The Nike P-6000 is retro running at its finest

This year we've seen a lot of sneaker releases, mainly adopting the chunky sole or high-tech futuristic formula, but Nike decided to take a step away and release the ultimate retro performance sneaker.

Following the popularity of performance sneaker aesthetic and streetwear’s return to the '00s, Nike dips into their archives taking cues from the Pegasus 25 and the Pegasus 2006, the Nike P-6000 is truely retro running at its finest.

Design

The P-6000 is the perfect combination of aesthetics and performance, with a super breathable mesh upper partnered with leather accents to complete the retro running vibe. This upper sits upon a cushioned midsole completed with a waffled outsole for ultimate traction and comfort.

The tongue features a lace tab harking back to Nike’s co-founder Bill Bowerman, a dedicated track and field coach and the powerhouse behind the first Nike sneaker (previously known as Blue Ribbon Sports).

Comfort and sizing

While this sneaker doesn’t have an air compartment like the Air Max collection Nike is renowned for, you’ll find there is no sacrifice to comfort or support.

Crafted with a cushioned insole, this sneaker is still what it is at its core: a performance sneaker, making it the perfect go-to for long days walking (or even jogging!). Bowerman’s philosophy of a great performance sneaker is that it must be lightweight and Nike did not miss that with the P-6000; a shoe so light and style-forward that you could walk the city or run a track.

Size wise, our Honeys have found these run perfectly true to size. Whether you have broad or narrow feet, the mesh and leather side panel help to mould around the edges, providing support where you need it most.

Styling

Coming in array of different colourways, there will be no issue finding the perfect P-6000 for your needs. The OG Varsity Red P-6000 works with almost everything. Pair them with some high waisted wide leg pants or with some denim and a vintage jacket to complete the retro feel. Or for a quick monochrome outfit you can easily throw on the all white P-6000 with some rolled up trouser or a loose fitted dress for the perfect Summer look.

Overall

Nike kills two birds with one stone with the P-6000. A sneaker that won’t feel out of place in your rotation while still being comfortable enough to actually be your absolute everyday go-to. The P-6000 is a model we can predict Nike will be running with (pun intended) for some time, with this silhouette being used in collaborations and a number of colourways still being released, we’re excited to see how far this sneaker goes.
